Emerce Interim
The multichannel platform Emerce and the recruitment agency Brunel wanted to join their forces to launch a platform which meets the growing need of organizations for digital specialists. Market research by the initiators shows that the business community has a great need for interim digital professionals, but that it is difficult to match within the digital community. We helped Emerce and Brunel to create a single platform called Emerce Interim, that could serve these needs.
For Emerce Interim, the goal for the project was to be an open platform where clients can search in an extensive database of pre-selected and positively assessed professionals. Interim professionals register on the premium platform, becoming part of the largest digital community in the Netherlands, receiving interesting assignments, and developing their skills and expertise. The services therefore include searching, qualitatively matching and placing the assignment.
We kept this goal in mind, and started with setting up a UX wireframe with a set of data documents with technical requirement for the website. The hardest task during this phase was the fact that we needed to figure out what was going to be the easiest process for the user to register themselves and what will follow after registering their account. It was a complex task, since we wanted the user to sign up fairly easy, but also not bombard them with a big list of information they need to fill in. Our solution: we combined a few ‘medium’ information fields with ‘small’ information fields in the beginning to make it look like that the step after the registration is not too much extra work anymore.

The process and reflection
After the client had agreed on the UX wireframes proposal we went to the UI phase. Emerce was planning to do a rebranding another agency to make a start to make the differentiation between Emerce and all their products. They selected for this a few colors, fonts and a logo, but we had to implement the concept of the rebranding to the whole Emerce Interim project. The hardest part of this phase was designing the profiles for the freelancers on the platform in such a way that the amount of text is not making the profiles look too chaotic, but rather clear and simple.
It was hard in the beginning to figure out how we were gonna setup the website in the UX phase, but along with some specific design problems the team and I managed to come up with a strong UX followed by a pixel-precise UI phase. We made a project of which we can be proud to share with the world.
